One evening, I got a chat from a friend inviting us for dinner. Yes, foodtrip comes to my mind. It's time to try out another resto that I haven't been to. He asked me to suggest a place to dine 'coz he knows I'm familiar with lots of restos in Cebu that offers a different type of cuisine. I suggested for French Baker, but they said, "Naahh... What would we eat there? Bread?". French Baker doesn't only offer breads, they have French offerings in their menu. "Ok, how about Banana Leaf?", I said. Since they cater to Thai, Asian dishes, they agreed. We haven't tried Thai cuisines yet.
We agreed to meet up at Banana Leaf Ayala that evening. Friend1, Friend2, Bf and I are all present. We settled in and ordered some of their specialties. We had Pomelo Salad for appetizer, Chicken Satay, Malayan Chicken Curry with Potatoes and Phad Thai Banana Leaf Style. We ordered Nasi goreng nenas for our rice and added additional rice for each later on. I had the Lemon Grass iced tea(which tasted like cold soup of fish tinola, ugghh...) and the rest had the Pandan Iced tea. Bf then added Charcoal Grilled Sliced Pork Steak Thai Style afterwards.

Now with regard to the taste, I don't like it. Most of the dishes tastes bland and would not give you the urge to ask for more. Everything felt new to my taste buds and it doesn't leave a mark in it. I hated almost everything in there especially the servings which are very small. I was absolutely disappointed. I would never want to go back to this resto. I tend to control my appetite so that I would not puke. My mind was thinking that I should eat this, I paid for this expensive foods. I must get back my money's worth. We paid about 1,300 pesos for the meal.
We were all very full then, and seems like nobody wanted to express their thoughts on the food. Maybe they just kept it themselves so that I wouldn't be disappointed 'coz I was the one who suggested this place. Is it maybe just me who doesn't like their dish? 'Coz I heard lots of good reviews from this place. Maybe I'm not into Thai dishes. I still prefer Filipino cuisines especially home-cooked dishes.

ReplyDelete@edik. thanks for visiting my site. I'm an avid reader of your blog. I like to read your point of views especially in terms of politics. ReplyDelete@jane amora: I love reading you blog, especially because you put food prices in it. I can estimate my expenses when trying out the restos you've been to. Just also wanted to ask if Don Merto's is very expensive? You had a review of it in you blog. I would like to try it out.
