Last May, my friends and I had the chance to take a trip to Bohol. It's one of the places here in the Philippines that I would really love to visit. I heard lots of pleasant things about Bohol. Good that the Libre-Balik promo of Oceanjet is still ongoing during those times. For only 300 pesos, you can have a roundtrip ticket to Bohol via their ferry. That was a huge savings for us already because the regular ticket price would cost you about 800 pesos.
Before that, I have already contacted a van-for-hire in Bohol to tour us around the place. (I have searched a lot on the web on the best tour rate possible.) A Bohol tour consisting of different tourist attractions such as, Butterfly santuary, Loboc river, Man-made forest, Hanging Bridge, Baclayon church, a visit to Prony the Python, Blood compact shrine and the famous Chocolate Hills. We paid only 2,500 for the 7 of us. The van can accomodate up to the max of 12pax.
The Place
One of the memorable experiences for me in Bohol was the long stairs heading to the view of the Chocolate Hills. It's very tiring and scary for me 'coz I'm afraid of heights. Good that I have bf with me, who supported me during the long climb. After reaching the top, the view is marvelous. I loved mother nature and I really appreciate plants and trees and mountains. You can see the very nice form of the different hills. The hills were not that chocolatey that time, they were somewhat green. They said its because its rainy there during those days so plants around the hills were growing which makes it green.
Another good experience for me during the trip was the Loboc river cruise. We did not actually avail of the buffet ride, rather we rented a small boat to sail us to the river. The rent for the boat is 700 pesos plus 50 pesos per person for the so called "tax" or something. The Loboc river is so green and calm. It gives you the feeling of relaxation. The water is so cold, but I love it. Everything around it is green, which makes me feel closer to mother nature. It made me realize the beauty and importance of plants and trees. They make the world and environment beautiful so we need to take care of them.
Lastly, the scary part is walking in the Hanging Bridge. As I said earlier, I'm afraid of heights(hahaha). I find it very hard to cross the bridge, that I walk very slowly going to the other side. I needed to hold the ropes so that I would gain confidence in walking. I felt that anytime I would fall because the bridge swings whenever someone walks to it. But I'm a fighter, it's better to try and be scared than to never try at all (what's the use of me being adventurous if I won't atleast try)...And by the way, the man-made forest was superb. It felt like I'm in another country. Seeing those very tall trees and the street going there was like the scene in Wrong Turn movies, scary but nice.
The Verdict
I would surely go back to Bohol and next time I'd visit Panglao to try out the beach there. Boholanos are good people, they would not give you the feeling of fear or being tricked.
I love BOHOL :)
