I've long heard about
Kublai Khan's Mongolian Restaurant at Ayala Center
Cebu but haven't had a time to visit it. Heard in a sense that I know it exists and where it is located but I don't know much what's on the menu. So when BF and I celebrated our mansary(mansary=eating out), I then suggested that we try this place. And he gladly agreed.
When we arrived, the whole place is packed so this must be a positive indication that they serve good food. We then approached the counter and asked about the menu. It was confusing at first coz it's different from other restos. You need to pick your choice whether eat-all-you-can, all-you-can-fill bowl, or check-a-bowl. BF chose the all-you-can-fill bowl where in you'd pick anything you want from the ingredients(sauces, spices, condiments, garnishes, veggies, meat, pasta, rice and etc.) in the food counter as long as it fits in the given bowl. On the other hand, I chose the check-a-bowl, so I checked ingredients from the given list/form and they'd be the ones to prepare it.

The funny thing we encountered being first-timers was after BF filled his bowl, we thought it is already cooked. BF took a seat and almost started to eat when the girl in the counter area told him it needs to be cooked first. Hahaha, we felt ashamed of ourselves. I even ate the fishball raw as I thought it's cooked.

After all the ingredients are mixed and cooked, it's time for us to eat. It is quiet a unique and noteworthy dining experience. The food tastes yummy, it is a combination of everything. But I prefer BF's choice rather than mine. I think it's because of the teriyaki sauce I chose which is slightly sweet and I'm not really fond of sweet viands. BF had oyster sauce in his meal so it tasted lighter. Mine had too much bihon than rice, so next time I will not include bihon in my meal, hehehe. I loved that I was able to choose the ingredients(a lot to choose from) in my meal.
The Verdict
Overall we were satisfied foodies who went out full and happy. I think one bowl could feed 2 people, but if your hungry a bowl is enough.
Kublai Khan is one of the restos that BF was greatly satisfied and he wants to try their eat-all-you-can next.
