For a change, my older sister R decided to celebrate her birthday in a beach. This is also the first time we celebrated a family member's birthday at the beach. Because we've recently been to Agus Hotel Resort last summer, we chose another resort that most of us hadn't been to - Portofino Beach Resort.
We had a smooth travel going to the resort however, the actual road leading to the resort is a bit bumpy. Entrance fee is P120/pax. Student discounts are available simply present your id on the entrance gate. When we arrived R immediately rented tables and chairs( P350 for a table with 6 chairs, additional table for P140). We didn't reserved a cottage as reservations are not required. It usually is on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The weather was fine and the sun was still up when we arrived at around 10am. But after almost an hour, the skies suddenly darken and winds kept blowing hard. Beach waves were huge and the humid atmosphere turned cold. Thus, it started raining hard. It was like storm was coming. The rain and weather seemed intermittent. That's why we decided to go home earlier than planned.

The beach easily passed my standards because it has a shoreline, fine sand and clear waters. R said many people prefer to come here because this is the only beach resort in Lapulapu(aside from those expensive resorts) that has wide shoreline and fine sand though we believe these are just artificial sands. Portofino Beach is way better than Ocean Pearl and Blue Reef in terms of cleanliness and overall beach ambiance.
Cottages |
On the other hand, my only resentment about this resort are their rental prices. I find them too overpriced. Cottage rates range from P1000-1500 I think and those are not actual cottage-like structures. Those are simply roof-type, tent-like cottages. The tables and chairs for P350 are dirty. They should atleast clean it coz we paid for it.
thanks for visiting :)
