Chowking is one of the most popular Chinese-style restaurants here in the country. They offer value and budget-friendly meals for everyone to enjoy. What I liked about Chowking is their wide variety of menu offerings. This resto is one of the best option if you're tired of eating the same old burger/chicken meals from fastfoods.

chow pao with chicharap and regular drink @P69, I think

A not so new Chowking product caught my attention when I saw it in the TV commercial. I love siopao, and this new menu looks like an evolved siopao/burger style, hahaha. So when I got the chance to dine at Chowking, without second thoughts I ordered the new chunky beef Chow Pao combo meal. The slightly stupid me, thought all Chow Pao's costs P25 pesos as what I saw on TV. I was wrong. I forgot to note that the print says "Sarap starts at P25", so other variants would cost more. The P25 Chow Pao is the sausage-filled one and I don't feel like eating sausage that time so I opted for the beef variant. I think it costs P49 ala-carte, and P69 for combo meal which comes with chicharap and a regular drink.


Is it any good?
Hmmm, the chow pao tastes good and looks good. I really liked the Ck marking on the bun, which is kinda cute and uniquely designed :). The bun is also very soft and fluffy to eat. It has a slightly different texture from that of the siopao bun, so its something you gotta try. It has an average amount of vegies in it like carrots, cabbages and etc. I liked that the vegies are fresh and it greatly compliments with the sweetness and saltiness of the beef and sauce. The beef on the other hand is indeed tender and with enough amount of sauce. However, it tends to get messy in every bite as the bun can't handle all of the stuffed meat and vegies inside it. Don't eat it the way I did, better take a small bite to lessen the mess ;).

Will I buy it again?
Probably not. It does taste good and delicious overall, but it is not something that I would crave for. Maybe it's just: "Not my cup of tea".
