I haven't tasted and bought any of Starbucks' beverage before but because of Hongkong Shanghai Banking Corporation (HSBC) / Starbucks partnership I was able to do so. The promotion started last year and me and my officemate/friend M. have been constantly availing this since. Although the promo was discontinued late last year until early this year, good thing they decided to bring it back probably due to insistent public demand. I, myself, a sucker of promos loved this one a lot. I get to taste Starbucks frappes without spending a dime.
This promo is open to all HSBC Credit card holders. For every P2500.00 single chargeslip purchase, you are entitled to a FREE tall Starbucks handcrafted beverage or 3 Via packs. So being a certified promo addict, I hurriedly made a P2,500 purchase using my classic HSBC card, tagged my officemate M. (as she's also an HSBC cardholder) and planned our Starbucks date.
Also because of this promo, M. and I got to bond a lot. Aside from our usual massage or diamond peel sessions, this one's another way to reward ourselves.
Hojicha + coffee jelly |
Strawberry frappe |
For our latest Starbucks visit, I chose to order their new Asian blended offering Hojicha + Tea Jelly. The Tea Jelly was unavailable during that time so they asked if its okay to substitute it with coffee jelly, and I agreed. On the other hand, M. had the Strawberry frappe which is one of our favorite blend. For my Hojicha, I didn't like it at first sip as I felt it's too bitter but after a while I kinda liked it. My first impression didn't last, it's not bitter at all. The tea taste is not so overpowering. It has a very good after taste that makes you feel healthier, hahaha. It's also not too sweet which is what I prefer. I also loved that it has jelly as it compliments well with the tea. This is now my new favorite Starbucks frappe. After consuming it, I told myself - "I want more." - definitely next time.
How about you, have you tasted this new Asian Blended Beverage from Starbucks? What's your verdict, hit or miss?
** Try also their tuna pandesal. This stuffed pandesal is so delicious. Its packed with a lot of tuna. It's worth it, for I think P60.
