My Frontgate voucher is expiring a week before I head out to my first international travel, so I opted to redeem it. I asked my older sister R. to drive me to Frontgate since she has a car and the location is not accessible by PUJ - and I don't want to spend on taxi fare. We went there on a Saturday night and upon arriving, I immediately felt the "bar" type of ambiance. This is not my/your typical restaurant. So don't expect to sit down on a quite, cold and brightly painted walls.
There were two waitresses/servers during that night and seems like they didn't see us entering the area. None of them dared to ask our orders, so we decided to call the attention of one of the servers. Both of them were busy with the other diners/guests that we felt like we were neglected. I gave my voucher and was told to wait for them to review it and thus prepare our order. R. bought an additional spaghetti with meatballs(I think it costs P108 or P128?) both order was for take-out. We got our orders after about 15-20mins and then we left.
The Sloppy Joe was indeed very spicy as what I've read in a review from a blog. But it was overly flavorful and the bun was so soft. I liked the very unique taste that felt so new to me. The Sloppy Joe was filled with beef, onion, sweetened sauce and other seasonings.
On the other hand, the spaghetti with 3 pieces of huge meatballs was very "sulit"(getting more than what I paid for). For the price we paid, it is good for 2 persons to share. It tasted like gourmet spaghetti. I think they didn't use commercialized/ready-made spaghetti sauce which is a plus factor for me. You can really taste the saltiness of the real tomatoes. The pasta was cooked al-dente with just the ample amount of cheese. This is definitely a meal worth it.
Now I know why people are raving about Frontgate, though I haven't tried their burgers yet. The Sloppy Joe and spaghetti itself is a testament to the kind of meals they are serving. Their delicious and affordable meals is definitely worth another trip.
