It's been almost 3 years since I applied for a SmartBRO Plan 999 wireless internet connection which uses canopy unlike other internet service that uses modem. When I applied for it in 2009, I signed for a one-year contract. Before my contract expired, a SmartBRO representative invited me to their blowout event where they will be giving gifts and freebies at SM City Cebu for their subscribers. Free gift? That's one of my weakness, eyy. So I went to SM together with BF and found out that they are also offering an HP printer or SM gift certificate worth 3k or external HDD and more, if you'll renew your plan and sign a 2-year contract with them. Without any hesitation I hurriedly signed it and got the HP printer.
Do you know why I renewed my SmartBRO plan? Primarily because of SmartBRO's better customer service and technical support. Although our internet is not as fast as others especially those having wired connections, what matters to me is that I have consistent internet and my complaints are always addressed on time.
I haven't tried PLDT or Globe, but based on BF's experience with PLDT got me dismayed. BF always find a hard time calling their customer service for technical assistance. It's either PLDT technicians visits your house after a month from the time you complain or worse no technician will visit/fix it. And that's the primary thing I hate the most.
We do experience intermittent connections once in a while, but I always call their customer support and if the CS representatives can't fix the issue they'd forward it to their technicians and expect them to be in your home within 2-3days without any fee. Good right? Hope they continue to provide better service and not be like their competitors who'd neglect customers thereafter your bonded with the contract.
One last note though, it really is difficult to call their customer support hotline as you'll be waiting for almost 30mins just to be on queue and speak to a customer service but atleast the wait will likely be worth it. :P
