I had long been wanting to visit this place but had second thoughts whenever I think about my budget. Thanks to my sis R. who raved about this resto thus, I needed to visit the place once and for all. I asked my friends if they'd want to come with me for this "foodtrip". Gladly, they all agreed. It's always a good option to dine in fancy restaurants in groups as this would lessen your expenses and at the same time you'd be able to try different food choices. Shared meals are always a way to go when your on a budget.
We met-up at Ayala Center Cebu and walked our way to Simply Js. Oh by the way, we made reservations prior to going there because the place is usually full especially during dinner so don't forget to give them a call. Upon arrival, we were greeted by their pleasant wait staff and lead us to our table which was located just near the door. The place didn't disappoint. The interior looks classy and elegant with the beautiful chandeliers, elegant tables and chairs, and remarkable paintings. What I liked the most was the table we were seated on was huge. We were like seated apart - no "rubbing elbows" unlike the very cramped
Casa Verde in Ayala.
Now for our orders, we had: Taco Salad, Lasagna, 2 Chef's Signature Baby Back Ribs, Stuffed Rack of Pork, 2 peach-mango smoothie, mango ice cream shake, strawberry ice cream shake and chocolate ice cream shake.

The Taco Salad is a combination of lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, seasoned ground beef, topped with taco chips, whole kernel corn, cheese and taco dressing. This dish was served in a big bowl good for approximately 2 persons. A healthy option to start your meal. Next was the very cheesy Lasagna. The picture speaks for itself of how cheesy and meaty it was. A pasta dish that's worth every penny. It is very rich in flavor and could also feed up to 2 persons with average appetite.

stuffed rack of pork - P220 |
For our main dish, we had 2 of Simply Js version of back ribs and a Stuffed Rack of Pork all served with rice. And because we're a group of 5 we ordered 2 additional rice @ P20. The back ribs may not be as huge as
Casa Verde's but it was definitely better in terms of taste. If you're not a meaty person like me, you can consume this serving with 2 cups of rice. The sweet, tangy honey mustard sauce brushed in the ribs was the star that makes it standout. The honey mustard sauce simply "melts in your mouth, not in your hands", hahaha. And lastly, the best dish for me was the Stuffed Rack of Pork. I was slightly disappointed when I saw the serving size of the pork as I thought it was really huge from what I saw online. But good thing the taste made up for it and brought back the smile in my face. This is one of the best dishes I've had and if I'd be able to visit Simply Js again, I'd definitely order this one only for myself to consume. The pesto sauce and bacon combination that was stuffed inside the rack of pork was superb. It was combination made in heaven, LOL. It isn't oily, it isn't hard/chewy, just perfectly enough. Wow, that makes me cringe.

shakes |
As for our beverages, we all had the shakes in different variants. The best for me was obviously what I had which was the strawberry ice cream shake while second on top was the chocolate ice cream shake, yummy. Our bill amounted to P1,385 divided by 5 so we paid P277 each. Good thing there's no service charge.
All those we had were not as simple as their name suggests. Maybe that's what they call "simplicity is beauty". And that's what Simply Js is.
