During my highschool years, I had only two of the best dreams that I could only fathom. One was to become a president or owner of my own business and second is to travel around the world. Both of which are merely "DREAMS" as they say, for being born in a middle class family is a bit of a challenge. But as I graduated and eventually had a decent job, I started to "one-step-at-a-time" conquer my second dream -- to travel. It may not yet be around the world, but I'm still hopeful it will be someday. And atleast, I'm going there. I had traveled in different parts of the Philippines - Luzon: Manila, Laguna, Tagaytay; Visayas: Bantayan Island, Dumaguete, Bohol; Mindanao: Davao and soon Cagayan de Oro - and recently visited Hongkong and Macau.
My first international travel to Hongkong and Macau is a first step to my "around the world" dream. In my 27 years of existence though I "dreamed", I haven't really thought that this dream of mine would become reality. I'm very thankful to God that he gave me the guts to book our roundtrip tickets to Hongkong. I always had hesitations to travel abroad as going to a foreign place is not that easy especially with regards to dealing with their laws and culture.
We had approximately 8 months to prepare before heading to Hongkong and paranoia has been bugging all over me. Starting from the Immigration officers that might hold us from departing to the customs and mistakenly be accused of drug trafficking or anything illegal. Nonetheless, I prepared all documents needed and all things to bring 2 weeks prior to departure. I had made lots of research about Hongkong and read the best forum about Hongkong: The Ultimate Guide to Hongkong. And came up with this itinerary:
Thank God we went home safe with a slight panic due to the reported super typhoon Pablo which will enter Visayas a day after our arrival. Hongkong and Macau is indeed a very clean and good place to live at, but as the saying goes "There's no place like home", so I'm still loving Cebu.
